Established in 2005, Banu is an Iranian eatery & commissary. A collaboration between the Mohyeddin siblings, this family run joint is a destination in Toronto’s Queen Street West neighbourhood. But don’t expect any genies coming out of lamps or rugs hanging on the walls; the room is decidedly modern, with food, music & mood paying homage to the cosmopolitanism of 1970’s Tehran, Iran – a time when wine & song were not prosecuted & prohibited in the country. Banu serves up the best of Iranian cuisine & culture. It is not just a bar or restaurant; it is a movement in restoration & revelry.
